Personality: Good-looking, but prefers to keep to himself due to his profession. Enjoys action and detests pointless battles. Somewhat impulsive, he seems to get himself in and out of trouble faster than he realizes it. And he usually never realizes what he's done. While easily excitable, Duo is a clever tactician, and prefers to let the hot bloodedness speed up his movements. Outside of battle, he does put on a cheery, relaxed, and overall optimistic facade, but holds multiple scars of his work. Due to his spatial awareness which allows him to control his custom machine's remote weapons flawlessly, Duo is far more aware of the emotions surrounding him, but has learned to ignore them to make sure he survives. And deep inside Duo, there lurks another deeply embedded personality to can only rise to the surface in bouts of extreme pressure. After 6 years in intense conflict, Duo has become more subdued and experienced on the battlefield. His newfound responsibility in leading his own unit has made him wary of his old strategies surfacing, with more concern put towards the safety of his team; for whom Duo will fight and gladly sacrifice himself for.

Physical Abilities/Limitations: Duo's piloting abilities are specialized by his preference for close, high-speed combat. Able to manuver his specialized Tartarus so easily has taken Duo many years of custom tuning to manage, and the machine now practically only obeys his style of movements. Duo also has the trait of being particularly spatially aware. Such a trait allows him to use his DRAGOON remote weapon system with a great deal of potential. Duo's main limitations however are that he can get decidedly overexcited by his battles; often losing himself to a fierce desire to destroy his opponent. And such a desire makes him sloppy in his attacks, even though they come at an even greater speed and level of ferosity. After the timeskip, Duo has become far more efficient with funnel use, and undergone some cyber-newtype enhancement, but was deemed to be far too above-average in spatial awareness to require much enhancement.
Background: Born into a wealthy family for his early life, Duo soon found himself an orphan after the assassination of his parents by the early founders of the Titans. Finding himself alone and having to fend for himself, Duo eventually found himself be assimilated into a local mercenary group who took him under their wing. Training with them, and building his skills by going on missions, Duo gained a new outlook on the world as he viewed the cold realities of warfare. At the age of 15, Duo left his adoptive family and left to form his own mercenary group. On his journey thorugh the Sierra Nevada, Duo discovered the remains of a mysterious mobile suit. To test his survival skills, (Duo has strange tests for himself) Duo spent almost two years commuting to the nearest towns to rebuild the mobile suit to normal functions. Finding it was already equipped well, Duo named it the Tartarus Gundam after reading the start-up system message on the main monitor. At age 17, Duo started a mercenary group known as Shadow Blitz and gained two members. But at age 18, after one member had been killed in battle, and the other gone missing, Duo moved on to becoming a solo veteran mercenary for hire.
*At age 20, Duo joined the Neo Zeon group after being saved its leader, Haman Karn near the moon. Rising through the ranks, Duo descended to Earth, and after spending time negotiating with ORB, participated in the campaign against the Titan base at Kilimanjaro. Failing to kill Jamitov, Duo moved with the Neo Zeon and ZAFT forces to strike the nearby Victoria Earth Alliance base. After helping to protect the emisarry between the AEUG and Neo Zeon: Char Aznable at Dakar, Duo returned to space. Given his own unit and a specialized Sadalahn-class battleship: Genesis. The final battle of the Gryps War saw Duo kill his own comrade, Jerid Messa in a fierce battle, where Duo was finally able to use his repaired Tartarus Gundam. The first Neo Zeon war progressed with Duo encountering very little AEUG opposition, but he did fight against Judau Ashta on two occasions: the first where Duo humbled the overconfident Judau easily; and the second where Duo found himself at Judau's mercy thanks to a newfound resolve for the future. All along the way, Duo began to have a romance with his combat coordinator: Lilia Flaubert, who he had first met at Kilimanjaro. His feelings for Lilia slowly have been subduing his infatuation with Haman, the one he felt he owed his life to. At the end of the first Neo Zeon war, Duo managed to defeat Rakan Dahkaran and his Doben Wolf, before being defeated by Judau. Damaged, Duo recieved the advice and help of an old ally turned enemy turned ally again: Char Aznable, in saving Haman from a critical blow from Judau. Rescuing her from the cockpit itself, Duo and Char escaped to the Genesis and left the battlefield. And for the past 5 years, Duo has helped Char build his own Neo Zeon from the colony of Sweethingyer; protecting the now-emotionally-frail Haman.*

Pilot: Duo Maxwell
History: Found by Duo Maxwell in Mountain System in the Adennine Mountains in Italy through the use of a message from his grandfather. It is a mysterious mobile suit that had most of its weapons intact, with many of them resembling mobile technologies that had only appeared recently in the wars between Earth and space. Duo's travels with it proved the Tartarus to be a capable mobile suit with untapped potential while on Earth, and it soon became his personal mobile suit. During a battle with a mercenary force of nearly 200 mobile suits, the Tartarus experienced extreme amounts of damage that forced Duo to leave it to the technicians and mechanics of Neo Zeon who rescued Duo from the remaining mercenary force. It was during his years with Neo Zeon, that Duo learned that the Tartarus also contained an internal network of self-regenerating nanomachines that had been repairing the mobile suit amidst large amounts of repairs. It still waits in the hanger for Duo to take up its cockpit once more...
Update: For the second arc of MBU, Duo returns piloting this Neo Zeon machine. Only, it has a black main paint job with a crimson trim.

Personality: A woman who sticks to those she involved with. Lilia is one who loves to admire others, and dedicate herself in their support. She's very deeply in love with Duo, but sometimes won't show it directly; instead, taking an indirect route. Trustworthy in and out of battle, she tends to disobey orders from Duo if she becomes overly worried about him. If he were not around, Lilia believes her old, introverted self will reemerge.
Background: Her father died when she was only 10, back in the One Year War. Her mother, fearing the Federation force's takeover of Side 3, fled the side, but their shuttle became the subject of a Federation test practice. Saved by fleeing Zeon soldiers, Lilia and her mother traveled with them to Axis, where she lived her life peacefully, but always dreaming of joining the growing cause of the Zeon people. She finally had her chance, when Axis returned to the Earth Sphere, when she turned 18. Joining the military, she was assigned to the Melord for the Kilimanjaro operation, as combat operator. And at that battle, she first met the man she would soon fall in love with. Their contact on the Melord was limited, and Duo left on independent missions to Dakar and then to space. Shortly before the Colony Laser Battle, Lilia returned to the Axis home base, where she would soon be assigned to Duo's brand new unit. Serving alongside him, for as far as they knew, indefinitely, Lilia grew closer and closer to her new commander. And during their campaign on Earth, Duo declared his love for her, which she accepted happily. Worried, but complying with Duo's orders later at the final battle of the 1st Neo Zeon war, Lilia escaped to the Genesis, and left the battlefield. But with the return of Duo and Haman, Lilia's fears were allieved. Now, four years later, Lilia still stands beside Duo, as he searches for the answer to the wars plaguing the Earth Sphere.
